Get to know 3 Cats Photo || 5 things that happen at your engagement session

I really strive to make each of my couple’s engagement sessions feel special and unique to that couple. Sometimes its bringing a pet or two, sometimes a favorite couch, sometimes a hike up in the mountains. Each session is a way to get to know each other, talk about your upcoming wedding and discover how you most enjoy being photographed.  But most of all, each session is a celebration of your love!

As different as my sessions may be,  there are five things I include in every session.

one: a simple, little walk

I always include a little romantic stroll just chatting about your hopes and dreams. In the midst of the chaos and the excitement of wedding planning, who doesn’t like a little break with their sweetie?

two: some silly behavior

I am a firm believer that the best images are taken when you are being yourselves. And, for me, the best way to keep you relaxed and at ease is to occasionally give you some silly tasks to perform. Without fail, it takes your mind off your nervousness, puts your body in motion and gets you both laughing again!

three: kissing, cuddling, holding hands…

However you express your love… these are all great practice for the big day. The more comfortable you are with me, the better your wedding images will be!

four: a portrait for mom

If you have had a session with me you know that at some point, I stop everything and tell you it is time for the “Mama Mantle portrait”. Sometimes I call it the “Grandma 5X7” but either way you are leaving your session with at least one image where you are both smiling joyfully at the camera. Even if you love the more spontaneous, less posed images, your friends and family are always on the lookout for this one!

five: a close up of that pretty ring!

And, of course, what would an engagement session be without an image of the ring???
